Position: Electric Vehicle, Vehicle Technician/ Senior Technician with EV expertise
Location: Superior Township, MI (Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, & Canton area)
Work Schedule: Fully onsite
Interview: 1 round, 1-hour long interview on MS Teams
Travel: 70% to facilities in United States
Must Haves:
- Associate’s degree in automotive repair or related program
- 4 years of experience with vehicle testing equipment and testing processes
- 2 years of experience working with EV energy storage systems and battery systems
- 2 years of experience with automotive wiring harnesses
- Understanding of system design and Validation processes
- Ability to read, interpret and maintain technical documentation and service records
- ASE certification + Michigan State Mechanic Certification
Day to Day:
- Insight Global is looking for a Vehicle Technician expertise in EV’s to support an OEM in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The EV Vehicle Technician is expected to deliver the following outcomes
- Ensure electric vehicle development fleet is maintained in optimal operating condition
- Support prototype vehicle builds and modifications to meet development and testing requirements
- Accurately install and maintain vehicle instrumentation and test equipment
- Diagnose and resolve vehicle system issues efficiently using appropriate diagnostic tools
- Support engineering teams with vehicle preparation, parts replacement, and test evaluations
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant workshop environment
- Ensure all repair and maintenance activities meet manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Enable successful vehicle testing programs through timely technical support at test locations
- Maintain accurate documentation and inventory for parts, tools, and testing equipment
- Provide reliable technical support for field testing activities across multiple locations
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Perform maintenance and repair activities on electric vehicles
- Diagnose vehicle issues using diagnostic tools and equipment (Hyundai GDS experience preferred)
- Conduct post-repair testing to ensure vehicles are operating correctly
- Ensure all repair work meets manufacturer specifications and industry standards
- Prototype & Development Support
- Support prototype vehicle builds and system modifications
- Assist engineers with vehicle development activities such as parts replacement, testing preparation, and evaluation
- Install and maintain instrumentation required for vehicle testing and data collection
- Testing & Technical Support
- Construct and install test harnesses for vehicle systems
- Safely apply testing equipment to EV high-voltage battery systems
- Support vehicle testing activities both in-house and at external test locations
- Provide on-site technical support during vehicle development and testing programs
- Workshop & Safety Management
- Maintain shop cleanliness and organization
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a hazard-free working environment
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Order parts and maintain accurate inventory records
- Field Testing & Travel
- Travel extensively to vehicle testing sites across the United States (up to 70%)
- Support test vehicle operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in field environments
- Assist in emergency response for urgent system issues when necessary
Compensation:
$30/hr to $35/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
