Job description

The Electric Vehicle Integration Specialist supports the development, testing, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of electric vehicles and their high-voltage systems throughout the product development lifecycle. This hands-on role works closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to integrate prototype hardware and software, identify and resolve technical issues, and ensure vehicles meet performance, safety, reliability, and quality requirements before launch.

Schedule: Work hours may vary based on program and business needs. Early mornings, evenings, and weekends may be required.
Travel: Up to 50%, depending on program needs.

What you'll do...
  • Vehicle Testing and Evaluation: Conduct durability, performance, thermal-management, charging, and safety testing on prototype and production-intent electric vehicles in laboratory, dynamometer, test-track, and public-road environments.
  • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Use specialized diagnostic tools, software, and test equipment to identify and resolve electrical, electronic, software, and mechanical issues involving batteries, electric motors, inverters, charging systems, thermal systems, and vehicle controls.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform vehicle inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and component replacements, including work on high-voltage systems in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • High-Voltage Safety: Follow all applicable high-voltage safety requirements, including personal protective equipment, electrical safe-work practices, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Prototype Integration: Install and integrate prototype components, instrumentation, test hardware, wiring, and software builds. Perform software updates and approved calibration changes as required.
  • Test Setup and Equipment Support: Assemble and configure test rigs and instrumentation. Operate and maintain equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, battery analyzers, data-acquisition systems, and vehicle diagnostic interfaces.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document test configurations, results, repairs, software versions, vehicle conditions, and technical issues. Provide clear findings and recommendations to support root-cause analysis and design improvements.
  • Issue Resolution: Reproduce concerns, collect relevant data, support root-cause investigations, and verify corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, design, manufacturing, service, and testing teams to resolve technical problems and improve vehicle design, validation methods, and service-repair processes.
  • Workplace Organization: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while ensuring tools, equipment, vehicles, and test assets are properly maintained.
You'll have...
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience in automotive testing, diagnostics, maintenance, repair, vehicle integration, or a related technical environment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical vehicle systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic software, electrical test equipment, and standard automotive repair tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service procedures.
  • Understanding of electrical safety principles and safe work practices for high-voltage systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced product-development environment.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule and travel up to 50%, as business needs require.
Even better, you may have...
  • Associate degree, technical degree, or professional certification in automotive technology, electrical technology, engineering technology, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience working with electric vehicles, high-voltage systems, vehicle integration, or automotive test operations.
  • Experience with dynamometers, test cells, prototype vehicles, data-acquisition systems, or on-road vehicle testing.
  • Knowledge of EV batteries, electric motors, inverters, onboard chargers, DC fast-charging systems, thermal-management systems, and vehicle communication networks.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout, and high-voltage personal protective equipment.
  • Experience installing prototype hardware, updating vehicle software, performing approved calibration changes, and documenting technical concerns.
