Job summary

Ford Motor Company in California seeks a Thermal Test Engineer to own the planning, readiness, and execution of vehicle-level thermal testing. You will deliver data validating system sizing and tuning, and drive test planning, instrumentation, and reporting to stakeholders.

You will collaborate with controls engineers and technicians, coordinate environments and test trips, and manage vehicle scheduling in a hybrid onsite setting. Visa sponsorship available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related thermal/sciences.
• 3+ years in vehicle or system-level thermal testing or similar role.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics for vehicle systems.
• Experience planning instrumented vehicle tests and data acquisition setup.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or equivalent for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own the planning, readiness, and execution of vehicle-level thermal testing.
• Validate thermal system sizing and tuning against targets and model results.
• Develop comprehensive test plans with objectives, conditions, instrumentation, and success criteria.
• Coordinate vehicle allocations, test trips, and environmental chamber/wind-tunnel scheduling.
• Define thermal instrumentation and DAQ setup; ensure data quality for objectives.
• Process, analyze, and report test results to program stakeholders; flag risks.
