Job summary

Ford is seeking an experienced Vehicle Thermal Test Technician to support development, testing, and validation of thermal systems for electric vehicles. You will build test setups, operate chambers, install instrumentation, collect data, and troubleshoot performance in collaboration with thermal, mechanical and software engineers.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in automotive/EV test environments, strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills, and ability to read schematics and wiring

Qualifications

• 2+ years in automotive, EV, thermal systems, lab testing or related technical field.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Able to read schematics, wiring diagrams and technical docs.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and maintain thermal test setups for full vehicle and components.
• Perform testing on Vehicle HVAC, vehicle components, electric motors, heat pumps, radiators, chillers and coolant loops.
• Install and troubleshoot instrumentation including thermocouples, RTDs, pressure transducers, flow meters, sensors, and CAN data.
• Operate walk-in/drive-in chambers, chillers, pumps, heaters, compressors and lab equipment.
• Assemble/modify coolant, refrigerant and air-flow loops for testing.
• Perform leak, pressure, vacuum checks and functional verification.
• Execute test procedures and maintain accurate test records.
• Collect and review test data; work with engineers to troubleshoot.
• Support installation/removal of instrumentation on prototype vehicles and components.
• Assist with vehicle thermal testing in lab and road-test environments.
• Perform preventive maintenance and calibration; maintain a clean, safe workspace.
• Follow safety procedures and document configurations, failures and corrective actions.
• Communicate test results and issues clearly to engineering teams.
