Job summary

Ford Motor Company’s Product Creation and Industrialization group is seeking an engineer to advance thermal modeling for battery, drive unit, and powertrain programs. You will build reduced-order thermal models, assist with feasibility studies, and support prototype builds and data acquisition.

Join a collaborative team spanning controls, electrical, software, manufacturing, and validation to drive model accuracy, documentation, and continuous improvement in thermal performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with thermal systems coursework or projects.
• Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for data analysis and modeling.
• Ability to analyze data, document results, and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support thermal-system modeling for battery, drive unit, and powertrain.
• Build reduced-order thermal/fluid models to support decisions.
• Assist with feasibility studies of thermal components and subsystems.
• Support prototype builds, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Analyze test data and compare with model predictions.
• Develop validation plans, test methods, and summaries.
• Document model assumptions, specs, results, and updates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
• Improve thermal models, tools, workflows, and methodologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, cost, and reliability.
