Job summary

SPATCO Energy Solutions is seeking an energetic Electrical Vehicle (EV) Technician. Under the direction of the Service Manager, you will wire control panels, assemble EV products, and follow established procedures for quality and safety.

Responsibilities include installing components, testing systems, troubleshooting, reading blueprints, and assisting with material take-offs and inventory control to support a lean manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • NFPA knowledge required.
  • UL 508 knowledge required.
  • Electrical experience required.
  • Tape measurement and blueprint reading skills.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, test and maintain EV electrical equipment following Best Practices.
  • Install electrical components such as circuit breakers, relays and switches.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose systems using proper testing equipment.
  • Inspect systems for safety and code compliance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to assemble products.

JOB SUMMARY

SPATCO is looking for an energetic Electrical Vehicle (EV) Technician to join our team. This person, Under the direction of the Service Manager, will be responsible for wiring control panels, assemble EV products, fitting, joining, reading and comprehending instruction and following established procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic equipment and fixtures used in the EV industry using hand tools and power tools, following accepted Best Practices.
  • Install electrical components: such circuit breakers, contactors, thermal overloads, relays, fuses, distribution blocks, power supplies, switches.
  • Trouble-shoot and diagnose malfunctioning systems or components using the appropriate testing equipment to find and correct the failure. Use of ohm meter, volt meter, amp probe and megger are a must.
  • Inspect electrical system and components to verify compliance with safety requirements, codes, project specifications and manufacturer requirements. Verify proper operation of the electrical system.
  • Advise management, customers and fellow workmen when hazards are present and when electrical systems are safe to operate.
  • Assist estimator with material take-off, material cost and labor allowances.
  • Read, learn, understand and interpret blueprints and work instructions, and other instructions written or verbal, to complete assembly of products or components according to established guidelines and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory following established guidelines and procedures including labeling and locating parts, picking parts from appropriate locations in specified quantities to fill kits or bins, delivering parts to work areas, and recording and communicating inventory levels.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
  • Reviews bill of materials and communicates updates needed to production manager.
  • Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the manufacturing team.
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Follow Safety rules, participate in safety meetings, and follow up on any safety issues.
Experience, Competencies and Education
  • High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.
  • NFPA Knowledge required.
  • UL 508 Knowledge required.
  • Electrical experience.
  • At least 2 years manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5 years working as an apprentice with electrical company.
  • Tape Measurement and Blueprint reading skills.
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment and shop tools.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Electrical experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Perform work standing up in work cell for 8-10 hours per day and up to 5 days a week.
  • Work under time constraints efficiently and have the ability to work well with others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds during the course of performing their necessary duties.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
