The EV QA/QC Specialist is responsible for ensuring all electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and documentation associated with Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure meet project specifications, approved drawings, manufacturer requirements, applicable electrical codes, and company quality standards.
This position will work closely with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, electricians, subcontractors, commissioning personnel, engineers, and customers to identify deficiencies, verify corrective actions, and ensure systems are ready for energization and turnover.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform QA/QC inspections of EV charging infrastructure throughout construction, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Review IFC drawings, specifications, approved submittals, one-line diagrams, equipment schedules, and manufacturer installation requirements.
- Verify installation of EV chargers, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, disconnects, breakers, raceways, conductors, grounding systems, communications, and associated equipment.
- Confirm equipment is installed in the correct location, orientation, and configuration and maintains required working clearances.
- Verify conductor sizes, breaker ratings, conduit sizes, terminations, grounding, labeling, torque values, and equipment settings.
- Inspect workmanship for compliance with company quality expectations and industry standards.
- Ensure installations comply with applicable requirements including NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, local electrical codes, project specifications, and AHJ requirements.
- Verify electrical equipment ratings including voltage, amperage, interrupting ratings, SCCR, environmental ratings, and equipment compatibility.
- Review installation against manufacturer requirements and approved equipment submittals.
- Perform and document pre-energization inspections.
- Witness or coordinate electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, grounding, torque verification, voltage checks, phase rotation, functional testing, and other project-required testing.
- Verify proper startup and commissioning of EV charging equipment.
- Coordinate resolution of deficiencies with field supervision, subcontractors, engineering, and project management.
- Generate and maintain QA/QC punch lists and track deficiencies through final closeout.
- Identify recurring quality issues and work with field teams to prevent repeated deficiencies.
- Maintain inspection reports, photographs, checklists, test documentation, and corrective-action records.
- Review redlines and verify that field conditions are accurately captured for final as-built drawings.
- Confirm equipment labeling, circuit identification, arc-flash labels, warning labels, and directory information are complete and accurate.
- Verify required testing and commissioning documentation is completed prior to customer turnover.
- Participate in customer, engineering, utility, AHJ, and commissioning inspections as required.
- Support final system acceptance and project turnover.
- Maintain clear communication with the Project Manager regarding quality concerns, schedule impacts, deficiencies, and corrective actions.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of electrical construction, electrical testing, commissioning, or QA/QC experience.
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and electrical construction practices.
- Understanding of electrical testing and commissioning procedures.
- Experience inspecting electrical equipment, conductors, raceways, terminations, grounding, and distribution systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify installation deficiencies.
- Ability to document findings clearly through reports, photographs, and inspection checklists.
- Comfortable working independently in an active construction environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and construction documentation platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with EV charging infrastructure or EVSE installations.
- Electrical Journeyman, Master Electrician, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent electrical background.
- NICET, NETA, NFPA, or other relevant electrical certifications.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- NFPA 70E training.
- Experience with commissioning or electrical acceptance testing.
- Experience working with utility services and electrical distribution equipment.
- Familiarity with EV charger manufacturers and networked charging systems.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction management software.
Quality Expectations
- Installations match approved drawings and specifications.
- Equipment is installed according to manufacturer requirements.
- Electrical connections are properly terminated and torqued.
- Equipment and circuits are properly identified and labeled.

Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all company and customer safety policies.
- Comply with NFPA 70E electrical safe-work practices.
- Participate in Job Hazard Analyses / Job Safety Analyses as required.
- Identify unsafe conditions encountered during inspections and immediately communicate concerns to site supervision.
- Do not permit energization when known installation or safety deficiencies could create an unacceptable electrical hazard.
Travel
This position may require significant travel to EV construction sites throughout the United States, including overnight and extended-duration assignments depending on project requirements.
