Job summary

Highland Electric Fleets is seeking a Field Service Technician in Dallas to service and repair electric buses and charging stations, ensuring on-site uptime and customer satisfaction. You will perform OEM-approved testing, repairs, and troubleshooting, with training provided to cover Level 2 to DC fast chargers and related equipment.

The role requires 5+ years in EV fleet repair, strong diagnostic and electrical skills, and a CDL with ASE and OEM certifications within 12 months.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years Electrician, Electric Vehicle, or Medium/Heavy duty truck Fleet repair experience.
  • Advanced Diagnostic, Electrical, and AC skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of MS Suite products.
  • Possess the recommended tools for a Medium Duty technician as well as electrical diagnostics tooling.
  • Flexibility to work bus depot hours (early morning to afternoon) and weekends.
  • Clean Driving Record is required.
  • Within 12 months of employment: CDL, minimum 3 ASE certifications, and minimum of 4 OEM certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the company’s on-site advocate for EV’s and EVSBs, striving to achieve 90% overall uptime.
  • Represent the company at customer locations with the highest standards of professional conduct.
  • Retains a clean and safe work environment and brings any unsafe practices or conditions to management.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and performs electric vehicle and charger repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, in accordance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial and local guidelines and requirements. Test-drives vehicles to ensure repair resolved.
  • Maintain detailed and timely documentation for troubleshooting and repairs, records time and materials used for each assignment in asset management platform.
  • Assist in managing of external support vendors to follow up and document repairs being made to Highland’s assets.
  • Provides repair and maintenance assistance to junior technician staff.
  • Performs road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
  • Undergo electric vehicle and charger OEM and internal trainings.

The Field Service Technician is enthusiastic about EVs and a self-starter who will work closely with customers to ensure that Highland’s electric vehicles and charging stations are working properly and that buses can get students to where they need to be. No day will look the same, but responsibilities will include performing original equipment manufacturer-approved testing, repairs, and troubleshooting customer issues.

Highland will provide the relevant training to repair all local equipment including basic electric vehicle functions, Level 2 EV chargers to DC Fast Chargers, and communications equipment.
