Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a hands-on Laboratory Technician for its EV / Energy Laboratory, located on-site in the United States. You will perform safety and performance testing on EV-related components, operate specialized equipment, and work with engineers to interpret results and improve test methods.

The role emphasizes problem-solving, collaboration, and hands-on proficiency with electrical testing, data collection, and report generation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in electronics or related field.
• Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals and schematics.
• Experience with troubleshooting electrical/electronic systems.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical docs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn automation.
• Hands-on, safety-conscious lab performer with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Examine test samples and read instruments, schematics, and diagrams.
• Evaluate test performance and report issues with data sheets.
• Operate with minimal supervision within defined limits.
• Direct/setup/modify test equipment for new situations per data sheets.
• Train staff on test setups and methods.
• Initiate recommendations for new equipment designs and methods.
• Operate designated machines and maintain lab equipment.
• Record data and prepare test reports and data sheets.
• Communicate test results with engineers and clients as needed.
• Contribute to process improvements and automation in testing.
