Job summary

ASML in San Diego is seeking an Automation/Controls Engineer to lead integration activities for the EUV light source, develop control algorithms, and troubleshoot high-speed embedded systems. You will own subsystems, collaborate across engineering teams, and travel to customer sites as needed.

The role requires strong backgrounds in control theory, data analysis, and programming in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Controls, Mechanical, Computer, Chemical, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering or Physics.
• Master's degree is highly regarded.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Specialization in advanced control systems preferred.
• Courses in linear systems, feedback control, optimization, signal processing and system identification will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform integration activities including designing and executing test plans, troubleshooting the control system, to ensure the system functions as designed in the EUV light source.
• Provide technical ownership for control, optimization, or calibration subsystems and address critical issues.
• Communicate technical issues across teams and serve as a central information resource for engineers.
• Monitor and report system and plasma submodule performance and define improvements for stability and availability.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute integration activities for automation and control functions and testing.
• Analyze test results using time-series data, logs, and diagnostics to verify performance and reliability.
• Prepare test summaries and qualification reports documenting results and risks.
• Travel to customer sites for onsite support and potential international travel up to 20%.
• Mentor junior engineers in controls fundamentals and testing design.
