Job summary

Flowserve, a world-leading manufacturer and aftermarket service provider of comprehensive flow control systems, seeks an End User (EU) Sales Engineer to lead a territory across Montana, Northern Wyoming and Western North Dakota. Based out of Billings, MT or Casper, WY, you will be the technical and commercial expert on mechanical seals and centrifugal pumps.

You will balance direct end-user engagement with channel partner collaboration, support distributors, and call on maintenance, reliability

Qualifications

• 2+ years of technical sales, application engineering, or field service experience involving mechanical seals, centrifugal pumps, or adjacent equipment.
• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related discipline or equivalent hands-on sales/tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive territory growth across direct end-user accounts and distributor networks.
• Collaborate with key distribution partners for joint sales calls, quotes, and coverage.
• Serve as the technical front line for plant operations and procurement teams to identify upgrades and reduce TCO.
• Specify mechanical seals, API/ANSI pump systems, and auxiliary systems with internal engineering teams.
• Manage opportunities from discovery through negotiations, orders, and warranty follow-up.
• Conduct on-site visits across Montana and Northern Wyoming.

Flowserve is seeking an End User (EU) Sales Engineer to lead and expand a established territory across Montana, Northern Wyoming, and Western North Dakota. Based out of Billings, MT (or Casper, WY ), you will serve as the primary commercial and technical expert for our world-class rotating equipment solutions—focusing heavily on mechanical seals and industrial centrifugal pumps .

In this role, you will balance direct end-user customer engagement with strategic channel partner collaboration, working closely with premier industrial distributors as well as calling directly on maintenance, reliability, and plant engineering teams in the refining sector. Whether troubleshooting an existing installation, sizing a mechanical seal upgrade, or partnering on turnkey pump packages, you will drive customer reliability and Flowserve growth across the Northern Rockies.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Territory Growth: Own and achieve bookings targets across direct end-user accounts and regional distributor networks within an established industrial territory.

• Channel Partner Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with key distribution partners to coordinate joint sales calls, review inventory and quotes, and align strategic customer coverage.

• End-User Reliability Consultation: Serve as the technical front line for plant operations, reliability managers, and procurement teams to identify equipment bad actors, execute pump/seal upgrades, and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO).

• Application Engineering & Sizing: Collaborate with internal engineering teams and customer technicians to recommend and specify mechanical seals, API/ANSI pump systems, and auxiliary systems.

• Commercial Lifecycle Execution: Manage opportunities from initial discovery and technical scoping through proposal generation, commercial negotiations, purchase agreements, and warranty follow-up.

• Territory Coverage: Conduct regular on-site customer and facility visits across Montana and Northern Wyoming.

Required Qualifications

• Relevant Equipment Experience: 2+ years of technical sales, application engineering, or field service experience involving mechanical seals , centrifugal pumps , or closely adjacent rotating machinery (compressors, industrial valves, or process fluid handling equipment).

• Education or Practical Equivalence: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline— OR equivalent hands-on industry sales and technical experience in rotating equipment.

• Distribution & Direct Sales Acumen: Proven experience working through industrial distribution channels and/or managing direct plant-level accounts.

• Geographic Alignment: Residing in or willing to relocate to Billings, MT (preferred) or Casper, WY , with the ability to manage regional road travel across the designated territory.

• Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized expertise in mechanical seal selection, failure analysis, and seal piping plans (API 682).

• Familiarity with API 610, ANSI centrifugal pumps, or positive displacement pumping systems.

• Background with regional competitor product lines or distributors
