  • Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations.

The Opportunity:

The Peabody School is seeking a talented grade 1 teacher to join our caring and innovative learning community as an extended term substitute. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. They will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band. As a professional, the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of the Peabody School and be fully committed to continuously learning, improving, reflecting, and working together as a community to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.

Key Responsibilities

Your Skill Set
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • At least two years of full-time classroom instruction
  • Massachusetts State Early Childhood or elementary certification is preferred
  • Experience working in an urban educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds, is preferred
  • A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel
