Qualifications

• Must have strong hands-on experience with Google BigQuery, including data modeling, query tuning, performance optimization, and cost management.
• Extensive experience designing and developing ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data processing environments.
• Strong expertise with Starburst, Trino, or Presto for distributed and federated query processing.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, and Spark-based processing frameworks.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory (ADF), or similar scheduling platforms.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data architecture best practices.
• Experience handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data across enterprise platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.
• Experience optimizing data pipelines for scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Banking and Financial Services domain experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of enterprise data.
• Build and optimize BigQuery data models and queries to ensure maximum performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement distributed query processing solutions using Starburst, Trino, or Presto to enable seamless access to enterprise-wide data.
• Develop data transformation frameworks using Python, SQL, and Spark for batch and real-time processing workloads.
• Create and manage data orchestration workflows utilizing Airflow, ADF, or equivalent scheduling and automation tools.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and data analysts to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
• Optimize data processing performance and reliability through tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of pipelines and workloads.
• Implement data governance and quality controls to ensure data accuracy, consistency, lineage, and compliance standards.
• Support enterprise data warehousing initiatives by designing efficient schemas and supporting analytical reporting requirements.
• Integrate data from multiple source systems through robust ingestion and transformation frameworks.
• Develop reusable components and best practices to enhance data engineering productivity and maintainability.
• Utilize cloud-native capabilities within GCP to build scalable and cost-effective data solutions.
• Support CI/CD implementation and deployment automation for data engineering projects.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and technical reviews, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and code reviews.
• Document technical architecture, data flows, and operational procedures to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing.
• Research and recommend emerging technologies and best practices to continuously improve data platform capabilities and operational efficiency.
