Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp seeks a Director of Ethics & Compliance to lead corporate investigations, anti-bribery, and regulatory compliance programs. The role requires coordinating with Legal, HR, Audit, and Public Affairs to mitigate risk and strengthen governance.

Located in Akron, OH with travel as needed, the position emphasizes strategic direction, policy development, and effective communications to senior leadership and across business units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, law, accounting, finance, public policy, regulatory affairs, or a related field.
• Juris Doctor degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in ethics and compliance, corporate investigations, or related function.
• 3–5 years of leadership experience in corporate, legal, regulatory, or compliance environments.
• Experience with investigations, due diligence, and reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for ethics and compliance initiatives and program governance.
• Oversee intake, triage, investigation, documentation, reporting, and remediation of concerns.
• Lead or advise on sensitive, high-risk investigations with appropriate confidentiality and stakeholder coordination.
• Identify trends, root causes, and remediation opportunities; report to management.
• Oversee gifts, conflicts of interest, policy acknowledgments, and related controls.
