Job summary

The Florida Commission on Ethics is seeking an Ethics Attorney to provide legal counsel, representation, advice, education, and opinions on ethics-related matters for the Commission, under the direction of its General Counsel and Executive Director.

Hiring salary ranges from $63,000 to $81,674 and comes with an excellent benefits package including paid annual leave, sick leave, and retirement benefits; Florida Bar dues coverage may be included.

Qualifications

• Attorney in good standing with The Florida Bar or admission within 12 months of hire.
• Experience in administrative law.
• Experience with Florida ethics laws.

Responsibilities

• Researches, drafts, and presents ethics advisory opinions interpreting ethics laws.
• Drafts orders for investigation and consideration by the Commission.
• Provides legal advice to Commissioners and staff; assists in investigations.
• Communicates analyses and opinions to public officials, local government attorneys, and the public.
• Represents the Commission in litigation with supervision.
• Develops and leads educational ethics trainings and lectures.
• Participates in seminars and meetings to inform on ethics laws.
• Engages in regulatory rule-making and drafts proposed legislative amendments.
• Prepares contracts and related legal documents for the Commission.
• Performs other duties as required.
