Job summary

The Florida Commission on Ethics seeks an Ethics Attorney to provide legal counsel, representation, advice, education, and opinions on ethics matters under the direction of its General Counsel and Executive Director.

The position offers a salary between $63,000 and $81,674 with excellent benefits including annual and sick leave and retirement, plus potential Florida Bar dues coverage and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Attorney in good standing with The Florida Bar or passage of Florida Bar within 12 months of hire.
• Experience in administrative law.
• Experience with Florida ethics laws.

Responsibilities

• Researches, drafts, and presents ethics advisory opinions interpreting ethics laws for consideration and adoption by the Commission.
• Drafts orders analyzing the legal sufficiency of complaints filed with the Commission; prepares other orders for adoption.
• Provides legal advice to Commission members and staff; assists investigators in preliminary investigations.
• Provides written analyses and telephonic counsel to public officials and employees, local government attorneys, the press, and the public regarding ethics laws.
• Represents the Commission in judicial and administrative litigation before state and federal courts with supervisory support.
• Develops and leads ethical trainings and lectures for the Commission.

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) / equivalent
