AARP's Office of General Counsel is seeking a Compliance & Ethics Manager to support the development and implementation of compliance initiatives, identify and address compliance risks, and formulate corrective action strategies. Additionally, the role involves conducting investigations into potential violations of company policies and ensuring the organization adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. As an individual contributor, this role will also prepare and deliver training to address key findings and recommend actions to prevent future compliance issues.
Responsibilities
- Leads and conducts investigations and special projects of a highly sensitive and/or complex nature, designed to prove or disprove allegations of fraud or other misconduct. Handles highly confidential information and situations.
- Prepares and delivers reports on the results of investigations and special projects for management and the Board of Directors/Audit Committee as appropriate and provides objective recommendations for ways to prevent or deter misconduct in the future.
- Monitors management responses to our recommendations and ensures that management has taken corrective actions to address risks. Identifies and assesses fraud risks and their implications and identifies root causes for misconduct.
- Leads and conducts fraud/misconduct monitoring activities (e.g., risk identification, data analytics).
- Assists periodically in the ongoing identification and assessment of the enterprise’s current state of fraud exposure, including assessment of the effectiveness of controls designed to address those exposures.
- Creates and provides fraud awareness training to other groups.
- Maintains professional knowledge and capabilities related to new developments in investigation methods and techniques including forensic accounting methodologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree; 5+ years of experience working in a compliance and ethics department conducting and delivering compliance training, leading corporate compliance initiatives, and managing ethics and compliance investigations. Has or is working toward a professional certification, such as a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), is preferred. A Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM) certification is not required, but highly recommended.
- Experience maintaining policies and procedures.
- Experience initiating and conducting compliance investigations.
- Demonstrated ability to apply analytical thinking and skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to develop clear and concise training and investigative reports.
- Team-oriented with the ability to take a collaborative approach to executing work tasks.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time, while maintaining a high standard and keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in training tools and platforms, as well as the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (pivot tables, charts, and other intermediate-level functions).

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
