ESY Therapeutic Recreation Specialist - SAIL

Job Details

Program Duration: The program will run for 15 days across two sessions:

  • June 16 - 18
  • June 23 - 26
  • July 7 - 10
  • July 14 - 17

Hours: 8:00 am - 1:30 pm

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in recreational therapy
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist preferred, but not required
  • Valid driver’s license for travel between HVED programs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Current knowledge of best practices in Therapeutic Recreation
  • Energetic and committed to making a difference in children's lives

Responsibilities
  • Build trusting therapeutic relationships with students
  • Use recreational techniques to enhance students' cognitive, physical, emotional, and behavioral wellbeing
  • Plan and implement accessible recreational, artistic, instructional, and athletic activities
  • Develop new programs based on trends and student/faculty feedback
  • Monitor and evaluate program quality through observation and data collection
  • Maintain and inspect recreation equipment and materials
  • Keep records and reports, including billing as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Physical & Travel Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform various physical activities
  • Primarily based in Kellogg, MN, with travel between programs
