Job summary

Township High School District 214 seeks an Extended School Year Principal to lead the ESY program at John Hersey High School. This role oversees curriculum alignment, budgeting, staffing, and safety protocols to support credit recovery, enrichment, and student engagement.

The administrator or teacher with an admin endorsement will coordinate scheduling, IEP implementation, and district-wide ESY activities, ensuring a productive learning environment within a 10-month contract.

• Current administrator or certified teacher with an administrative endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Directs the daily operations of the ESY program, ensuring alignment with district curriculum standards and state requirements.
• Conducts classroom walkthroughs and observations to monitor teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
• Analyzes student data to oversee placement, monitor progress, and ensure that credit recovery and enrichment goals are met.
• Ensures that IEPs are implemented correctly and that Special Education students receive appropriate support.
• Prepares and submits the budget, and monitors ESY fund expenditures.
• Develops and manages the master schedule of classes offered, ensuring efficient use of facilities and staff resources.
• Establishes and manages Health Office and Nutritional Services staff and procedures for student medical and nutritional needs.
• Establishes a transportation strategy with the Transportation Department.
• Enforces the Student Code of Conduct, including student disciplinary issues, attendance, truancy, and behavioral interventions.
• Coordinates with building administration, custodial and maintenance staff to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Leads emergency drills and acts as the primary point of contact during any crisis or operational disruption.
• Assists Human Resources in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of qualified summer staff and ensures tool/training needs.
• Supervises and evaluates summer staff; provides coaching and feedback as necessary.
• Verifies and approves staff attendance, ensuring accurate hours worked.
• Presents ESY proposals and year-end summaries to the District Administration and Board of Education as appropriate.
• Presents the ESY proposal for the coming year and the current year summary to the BOE for review.
• Oversees student registration and facilitates ESY strategic planning for students' benefit.
• Collects feedback with leaders and community members on ESY needs and improvements.
