Estimator - Transmission

Job summary

Cianbro is seeking a transmission estimator with an engineering background to develop preliminary estimates, review plans, and coordinate with vendors for bids in Indiana. You will work on multiple estimates, ensure compliance with client requirements, and support project teams from bid to transition.

The role requires at least three years of transmission estimating experience, a degree or equivalent experience, and proficiency with HCSS and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• Minimum of three years of transmission estimating experience.
• Strong computer skills, familiarity with scheduling and estimating software (HCSS) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop a preliminary estimate plan and assess the ability to meet RFP dates.
• Independently identify the scope of work and perform specificity, quantity, and cost takeoff from RFQ information.
• Review available plans and specifications to ensure the estimate is in compliance with client requirements.
• Perform conceptual estimates when detailed design information is not yet available.
• Work on multiple estimates concurrently.
• Solicit pricing from material vendors and subcontractors.
• Participate as a team member on larger estimates and contribute to the overall estimate.
• Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
• Develop project schedules to ensure projects can be completed to meet owner requirements and optimize company resources.
• Ensure estimates address all potential safety risks and concerns.
• Develop innovative means and methods for project completion to increase competitiveness and margins.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and client requirements.
• Play a key part during proposal preparation and develop the basis of the proposal when required.
• Ensure proposals meet company and regional financial goals and contractual requirements.
• Maintain base bid documents and organize estimate information per company protocols.
• Assist the project team with technical guidance on project delivery and transition to the project team.
• Coordinate with production on successful bids to provide transition to the project team.
• Assist in developing project budgets and monitor contract changes on successful proposals.
• Perform additional duties as required.

• Assist the project team by providing technical guidance on the project delivery in terms of means and methods for successful bids, and continue this support for the duration of the project on smaller jobs.
• Coordinate with the production team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team.
• Assist in the development of project budgets and monitoring contract changes on successful proposals.
• Perform additional duties, as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical field and/or related experience.
• Minimum of three years of transmission estimating experience.
• Requires strong computer skills, familiarity with scheduling and estimating software (HCSS) and MS Office.
• Conceptual estimating skills.
