Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a Journeyman Estimator to perform estimating functions with training or equivalent education and experience. They will apply knowledge of electrical theory, construction specifications, electrical codes, and rate and service policies to support field surveys, permits, and district budgeting activities.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, passing an aptitude exam, and passing the Journeyman Estimator test within 12 to 18 months.

Responsibilities

A Journeyman Estimator is an employee qualified to perform all estimating functions by training as a Journeyman Estimator Apprenticeor equivalent education and experience. They shall have an intermediate knowledge of electrical theory and practice, and a detailed knowledge of construction specifications, electrical codes, and rate and service policies. They may make field surveys, prepare right-of-way permits, crossing and conflict documents, expenditure requisitions and related papers and assists in the preparation of district annual budgets as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Candidate must have a basic knowledge of electric theory and operations and thorough knowledge of construction specifications, electrical codes, mapping systems and line extension policies and tariffs.
• Successfully pass the company administered Journeyman Estimator aptitude exam to determine placement into the appropriate program. Trainee I or Trainee II placement.
• Successfully pass the Journeyman Estimator test within twelve to 18 months of employment.

Preferences

• Previous experience as an Estimator.
• 2 years of customer service experience.
• Familiarity with the Electric Service Requirements Manual and IBEW Local 125 Working Agreement.
• Familiarity with basic utility construction standards, permitting processes, and previous experience working with municipalities regarding utility infrastructure.
