Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a Journeyman Lineman Troubleshooter to build and maintain distribution lines, install meters, and respond to customer service issues in rural Idaho. You will work with line trucks, bucket lifts, and equipment, while following safety standards to ensure reliable service.

The role requires formal journeyman training, certification, CDL or driving record, and several years of rural-line experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman.
• Journeyman Lineman certification or testing through Local 57.
• CDL license or a good driving record to obtain one.
• 4+ years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman in a rural environment.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Journeyman Serviceman.

• Construct and maintain distribution lines, service street lights, transformers, and related equipment.
• Install and remove meters and read/change charts on meters.
• Investigate and handle customer service complaints, including radio interference.
• Collect delinquent accounts.
• Operate switches, cutouts and grounding devices to de-energize lines.

Responsibilities

As a Journeyman Lineman Troubleshooter, you'll work effectively with customers and (a) construct and maintain distribution lines, service street lights, transformers, and related equipment, (b) install and remove meters, (c) read and change charts on all types and sizes of meters, (d) investigate and handle customer service complaints, including those involving radio interference, and (e) collect delinquent accounts.

In addition, the following Lineman duties are also a part of the position expectations:

• Install, maintain and repair all transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, both overhead and underground, while utilizing line trucks, aerial boom lifts and wire pulling equipment.
• Maintenance of lines and services will require pole climbing, working out of truck mounted bucket lift to construct, repair or maintain line equipment or string, splice and sag wire on live or dead circuits.
• Operates switches, cutouts and uses grounding devices to de-energize lines and equipment.
• You may train and direct the work of a trainee in the trade.

Requirements

• Completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman.
• Must meet examining board review of skills and experience.
• Journeyman Lineman certification or testing through Local 57.
• Must hold a CDL license or a good driving record in order to obtain one.
• 4+ years of experience as a Journeymen Lineman in a rural environment.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Journeyman Serviceman.

Physical Demands

• Lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead.
• Carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands.
• Pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertional force.
• Sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck.
• Reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead.
• Frceful grip and pinch; manipulation of small objects.
• Balancing on one or both legs during dynamic activities.
• Manipulation of large objects during activities requiring balance.

This position may requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.
