Job summary

Highway Intelligent Traffic Solutions (HITS) is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our Cedar Hill, TX team. This full-time role focuses on preparing estimates for bids, pricing changes, and collaborating with suppliers for successful project proposals.

Candidates should have TxDOT experience and strong Excel skills, with a background in construction or ITS-related markets. Your work will support traffic control, lighting, signage, and smart highway solutions across Texas.

Qualifications

• TxDOT experience required.
• Familiarity with Traffic Signals & ITS installations, large roadway signs, illumination and electrical work.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Effective verbal communication and ability to prioritize independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate, and timely estimates for all quote/bid opportunities.
• Develop and submit formal proposals for TxDOT, NTTA, and various municipal entities.
• Review project plans, specifications, and DOT standards.
• Create detailed pricing estimates based on historical data and industry standards.
• Identify deviations or clarifications from bid requests.
• Track bid status and maintain bid/award records.
• Communicate estimates clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and price change orders.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop purchase orders for bids.
• Maintain and grow technical knowledge through workshops and training.
