Role Description

This full-time Estimator role is an on-site position located at our main office in North San Diego, CA. The Estimator role will review project plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, and prepare bids and help organize and manage work procurement opportunities the company is pursuing. The role includes soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids, analyzing pricing, and preparing competitive proposals. The Estimator will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to refine budgets, support value engineering, and update estimates as designs evolve. Daily responsibilities also include maintaining historical cost data, tracking market pricing trends, and contributing to bid presentations and preconstruction meetings.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and civil drawings and specifications; strong skills in quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.


• Proficiency with estimating software and Excel; familiarity with construction management tools and databases.


• Knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, and industry standards; experience with subcontractor and vendor coordination.


• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in estimates.


• Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with project teams and present estimate findings clearly.


• Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


• Relevant experience in commercial or institutional construction estimating; prior field or project engineering experience is beneficial.


• Associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
