Employment Type: Full-Time | Commercial Construction | Mechanical & MEP Projects

About the Opportunity

Tiello is partnered with an established Kansas City-based general and mechanical contractor serving commercial, healthcare, institutional, manufacturing, and other technically demanding markets.

They provide preconstruction, construction, and service capabilities while self-performing key scopes of work to maintain stronger control over quality, efficiency, scheduling, and project outcomes. The company’s portfolio includes mechanical and electrical upgrades, HVAC and chilled-water systems, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and complex commercial construction projects throughout the Kansas City region.

We’re seeking an experienced Estimator/Project Manager who can take ownership of commercial MEP projects from initial estimating and preconstruction through procurement, execution, closeout, and final turnover. This is an opportunity for someone who understands both the technical and financial sides of mechanical construction and enjoys building estimates, managing client relationships, coordinating field operations, and delivering successful projects.

What Makes This Opportunity Different
  • Combined Estimating and Project Leadership: Maintain ownership from the initial bid and proposal through construction and final closeout.
  • Established Kansas City Contractor: Join a privately held contractor with a longstanding reputation in the local construction market.
  • Self-Perform Capabilities: Work closely with internal field teams and skilled trades, providing greater control over scheduling, quality, productivity, and project execution.
  • Diverse Commercial MEP Portfolio: Support projects involving HVAC, plumbing, piping, equipment installation, mechanical systems, and related commercial construction scopes.
  • Direct Client Interaction: Build relationships with owners, general contractors, design teams, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Technical Project Exposure: Work on demanding projects where constructability, system coordination, cost control, and field planning are essential.
  • Visible Impact: Play a direct role in project selection, estimating accuracy, profitability, and overall client satisfaction.
  • Long-Term Growth Opportunity: Join an experienced team with opportunities to expand your leadership responsibilities as the company continues to grow.

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related MEP scopes
  • Develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and general conditions pricing
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, and project risks
  • Prepare competitive bid proposals and conceptual budgets
  • Evaluate constructability and recommend cost-saving alternatives
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, scope reviews, and client presentations
  • Maintain accurate estimating documentation and historical cost information
  • Support negotiated, design-assist, and plan-and-spec procurement methods
  • Coordinate estimate handoff and turnover to field and project operations teams
