Job summary

Jobot in Pontiac, MI is seeking an Estimator / Project Manager for on-site responsibilities in a consulting setting. The role combines estimating, project management, and financial oversight to ensure budgets, schedules, and profitability align with client expectations.

The position requires leading bids, coordinating with vendors, and managing multiple projects from award to closeout. Strong Excel, Project, Procore, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD experience is preferred, along with travel to project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating, project management, or a combination of both.
  • Strong background in commercial construction, facility services, industrial construction, overhead doors, dock equipment, or related environments.
  • Experience managing projects from bid through closeout.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, project controls, budgeting, scheduling, and cost management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and profitability goals.
  • Experience negotiating contracts, change orders, vendor agreements, and subcontractor scopes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Procore, and Bluebeam.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Estimating and business development activities for new opportunities.
  • Review project plans, specs, contracts, and bid packages.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare competitive bids, budgets, and proposals.
  • Participate in site visits, customer meetings, and pre-bid activities.
  • Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
  • Support business development and sales initiatives through conceptual budgeting.
  • Manage projects from award through final closeout.
  • Develop project schedules and monitor milestone completion.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, subcontractors, and material procurement.
  • Monitor project costs, production, profitability, and performance.
  • Lead kickoff meetings and ensure smooth transitions from estimating to operations.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers and stakeholders.
  • Provide project status updates to leadership.
  • Resolve project issues impacting cost, safety, schedule, or quality.
  • Maintain contracts, permits, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Establish and maintain project budgets.
  • Analyze job cost reports and forecast profitability.
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders.
  • Support billing, collections, revenue forecasting, and backlog reporting.
  • Ensure project margins meet profitability targets.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Negotiate pricing and scope agreements.
  • Evaluate subcontractor performance and compliance.
  • Coordinate procurement activities to meet project schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Promote strong safety culture across all projects.
  • Participate in jobsite inspections and quality reviews.
  • Address quality and performance concerns proactively.
  • Complete punch lists and final inspections.
  • Finalize project documentation and closeout packages.
  • Conduct project financial reviews and lessons learned.
  • Transition projects to warranty and service teams when necessary.
