Job summary

Scott Humphrey Corporation in Middle Tennessee seeks an experienced Estimator to help build and lead a newly formed preconstruction function in Nashville. The role will shape the department, establish processes, and leverage established Nashville subcontractor relationships to produce accurate estimates.

The ideal candidate has a background in commercial or multifamily estimating, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience in commercial and/or multifamily estimating.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to develop and refine estimating processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates across commercial and multifamily projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop conceptual, schematic, and hard-bid estimates.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids.
• Leverage local subcontractor and vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing.
• Partner with Project Managers to support projects through the preconstruction phase.
• Contribute to value engineering and constructability reviews.
• Help develop and refine estimating and preconstruction processes as the department grows.
• Support the broader buildout of the preconstruction function alongside leadership.

A well-established Middle Tennessee commercial general contractor with more than 35 years building across the Nashville region, recognized for accurate estimating, on-time delivery, and strong design-build and preconstruction expertise. The firm is investing in its growth by building out a dedicated preconstruction function — and is looking for an experienced Estimator to help lead that effort.

Job Description

This is a high-impact opportunity to help shape a growing preconstruction department from the ground up. The Estimator will support current operations while partnering with leadership to establish and refine the firm's estimating and preconstruction processes. Strong local market knowledge and established Nashville subcontractor and vendor relationships are key to success in this role.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
