Job summary

STO Building Group,Boston HQ, is seeking an Estimator to collaborate with project managers, clients, architects and subs to deliver accurate pricing and successful project delivery. You will budget, bid, level and assist in awarding a diverse set of projects throughout all phases of construction.

This office- or site-based role requires detailed cost estimates for interior construction and tenant fit-outs, with opportunities to contribute value engineering while maintaining strong client

Qualifications

• BS, BA or relevant construction experience preferred; construction mgmt/engineering/architecture favored.
• Software experience such as On Screen Take Off or similar product.
• 3-5 years of estimating, purchasing, and related duties.
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel).
• Willing to report daily to our Manhattan office.

Responsibilities

• Manage the estimating process on assigned projects totaling $5M - $100M per year.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for interior construction projects, tenant fit-outs, renovations.
• Perform detailed budgets through design development, including architectural, structural, MEPS trades.
• Review and interpret drawings, specs to identify scope, materials, labor requirements.
• Compile analysis sheets for subcontractor review during bid process.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers with competitive pricing.
• Complete subcontractor bid review and descope per project specs, code, quality, schedule.
• Analyze risks and opportunities; provide value engineering suggestions.
• Manage kickoff and closeout meetings across estimating, engineering, accounting, operations.
• Maintain bid-to-completion engagement for RFIs, changes, pricing, subcontract execution.
• Develop relationships with clients, subs, architects, engineers and team members.
• Attend client meetings, resolve pricing issues, participate in VE exercises, obtain approvals.
