Job summary

Fransen Pittman in Windsor, CO is looking for an experienced Estimator – Level II/III to develop cost estimates for various construction projects. You will analyze blueprints and specifications, manage project information, and guide less experienced team members.

Job description

Job Title: Estimator – Level II/III

Department: Preconstruction

Location: Windsor, CO - On-Site

Supervisor: Preconstruction Manager

Status: Salary, Exempt

What You’ll Be Doing:

Develop cost estimates for CM/GC (Construction Manager / General Contractor – also called Construction Manager at Risk or Design Assist), Design Build and Design-Bid-Build jobs through analyzing blueprints and customer specifications for more complex projects. Works under minimal supervision and may provide some guidance to less experienced estimators.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare routine estimates under minimal
  • Work with business development and marketing department on site visits to gather information to propose on RFPs or estimates
  • Perform comparisons of scope, quantities and cost data between projects
  • Own project throughout lifecycle and seeks feedback on project variations and project profitability
  • Works with senior level estimator / managers to successfully pursue accurate estimates
  • Keeps senior level estimators / managers informed of key issues / opportunities that impact project success
  • Assist with sales strategy to close jobs in the pursuit stage
  • Assist in developing Level 1 Estimators
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and/or walk-throughs.
  • Manage subcontractor bidding lists, bid RFIs, Addendums, etc.
  • Very proficient at tabulation sheets
  • Very proficient in the Model, Estimate and Track (MET) preconstruction process
  • Very proficient at all estimating tools – Dashboard, tracking log, cost model, estimate, RFI logs, clarifications, etc
What we’re looking for
  • 2-4 year college degree in relevant field such as Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Design, and/or equivalent work experience
  • 3-6 years of estimating experience in construction
  • Strong working knowledge of computers, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet resources
  • Prior experience with Estimation Software required
  • Demonstrate commitment to deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of construction methods and construction contracts
  • Ability to be strategic, think critically and analytically
  • Strong organizations skills; able to manage multiple responsibilities and utilize time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Strong planning, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Works well as part of a team and on self-managed projects with little or no supervision
  • Willing to take direction in a positive and professional manner
  • Attention to detail and meticulous follow through
  • Individual with a professional demeanor that seeks excellence in job performance
  • Ability to travel to various construction sites
