Job summary

Tilson Homes in Houston, TX seeks an Estimator to join our team and help deliver cost-efficient, high-quality estimates for single-family homes. This role is based in the Houston area and supports the construction team throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of home-building estimating experience or a Bachelor’s in Construction Management, with strong skills in reading architectural plans, 3D BIM, and takeoffs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Construction Management or 1–3 years home-building estimating experience.
• Strong knowledge of architectural plans, details, section views, and takeoffs.
• Proficient in 3D BIM and estimating software.
• Ability to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and unit pricing.
• Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to incorporate into estimates.

Responsibilities

Requirements

As an Estimator, you will process job cost estimates for single-family housing units from 3D BIM (Building Information Modeling). The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in the home building industry or a Bachelor in Construction Management. Additional requirements are:

• Must have full working knowledge of architectural plans, details, section views, red lining, and takeoffs.
• Must be able to proficiently complete complex estimating tasks for projects in various design and construction phases.
• Review project plans, specifications, and requirements and incorporate them into estimates.
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and unit pricing.
• Identify cost-saving techniques, materials, and procedures.
• Perform cost comparison and analysis as requested.
• Create and maintain formulas and program estimating software to ensure accurate information in the estimating database.
