Job summary

Sundt Construction is seeking an Estimator I/II in the preconstruction department to support bid efforts on large projects or multiple smaller projects. You will assist with quantity takeoffs, pricing of logistics, and development of basic estimating deliverables under supervision.

A four-year engineering degree or equivalent experience is required. Ideal candidates will have 1–5 years in estimating, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and a willingness to pursue LEED accreditation.

Qualifications

• Estimator I requires 1-3 years of experience.
• Estimator II requires 2-5 years of experience.
• Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
• LEED accreditation preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs quantity takeoff.
• Assists in the pricing of project logistics, including hoisting, personnel lifts, and temporary construction elements.
• Develops abstracts and competently evaluates basic trade bids.
• Develops basic understanding of indirect costs, including insurance, taxes, and fees.
• Develops pricing for basic project elements and assists in the preparation of key estimating deliverables.
• Drafts subcontracts and purchase orders for review by senior personnel.
• Provides document control (sub lists, distribution of plans, addenda, etc.) for assigned projects.
• Solicits pricing for projects in the hard bid environment.
• Supports conceptual estimating efforts within the department, including development of basic models for review by senior personnel.
• With oversight from senior personnel, develops budget uploads and purchasing plans.

Job Summary

Estimator I and II titles are developmental positions within the preconstruction department. The El/Ell provides support for single large projects or multiple smaller projects. Primary duties include participation in bid efforts, working with teams on Design Build and CM at Risk delivery methods, and providing administrative support to the estimating department. The El/Ell is expected to be competent in basic estimating tasks and is developing an understanding of more advanced estimating principals including conceptual estimating, project logistics, and indirect costs.

• Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
