Mortenson is seeking an Estimator I & II for civil underground utilities in Minnesota. You will gather data, perform quantity takeoffs, analyze costs, and prepare complete estimates and bid proposals for large projects. Collaboration with project teams and vendors is essential to refine pricing.

The role expects accuracy, attention to detail, and experience with estimating software. A degree in construction management or engineering and 3+ years for Estimator II are preferred.

Qualifikationen

• Assess site conditions, project risks, permit requirements, and regulatory factors that may impact project costs, timelines, and execution strategies.
• Determine pricing strategies and propose cost-effective solutions aligned with project objectives and market conditions.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and operations teams to validate assumptions and refine pricing.
• Support estimate reviews, project meetings, site investigations, and preconstruction activities.
• Maintain estimating archives, historical cost databases, and market pricing information.
• Manage agenda, project documentation, and estimate revisions during bidding.
• Develop relationships with bidders and suppliers and gather qualification documentation for opportunities.
• Support lead estimator in data input into estimating software programs.
• May provide training to other estimators and interns

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an Estimator I & II - Civil Underground Utilities who will be responsible for gathering, calculating, and compiling data in order to produce project estimates; for large projects, this position will also prepare the full estimate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and operations teams to validate assumptions, refine pricing, and support project pursuits.
• Support estimate reviews, project meetings, site investigations, and preconstruction activities.
• Maintain estimating archives, historical cost databases, production rates, and market pricing information to support future bids and continuous improvement.
• Manage agenda, project documentation, and estimate revisions throughout the bidding process.
• Develop relationships with new bidders and suppliers and gather qualification documentation for future project opportunities.
• Support lead estimator in data input into estimating software program(s)
• May provide training to other estimators and interns

Salary Range

The base pay range for Estimator I $78,800 MIN - $98,500 MAX,

Estimator II $91,700 - $123,800 MAX

Estimator III $109,300 MIN - $164,000 MAX

(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
