Job summary

McGough Construction is seeking an Estimator I to read specifications and plans, prepare detailed quantity surveys, and develop project estimates including self-performed and subcontracted work. You will coordinate bids, track timelines, and support project teams.

The role requires 2–5 years in estimating, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency in Excel and On-Screen takeoff. Office-based with occasional site visits, Raleigh, NC area.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 2–5 years of estimating experience in construction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and On-Screen takeoff.
  • Self-starter and motivated with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Estimating and bidding for projects.
  • Perform quantity take-off and input costs.
  • Coordinate subcontractor pricing and bid cards.
  • Prepare CPM schedules and update project timelines.
  • Self-perform work for demo/interiors as needed.
  • Support pursuit and business development activities.
  • Develop bid scope clarifications and bid templates.

Occasional standing, bending, walking, and lifting is also required.Employee will be required to visit construction jobsites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures. In addition, employee must be able to move around prospective or current project sites. This includes climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, walking long distances and climbing stairs.
