Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking an experienced estimator to support preconstruction and bidding for heavy civil projects in the Denver area. You will analyze plans, read contracts, and develop accurate cost estimates across earthwork, utilities, and concrete scopes.

The role requires 3–7 years of estimating experience, proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, and Primavera P6, and strong communication skills. Office-based with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3 to 7 years of experience in heavy civil or general engineering construction estimating.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and cost estimating principles.

Responsibilities

• Analyze plans, specs, contracts to develop accurate project estimates.
• Review schedules, milestones, and permitting requirements.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and use estimating software for pricing.
• Develop production-based cost estimates and assist bid documents.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to ensure scope clarity.
