Job summary

PCL Construction, Inc. within Civil West is seeking an Estimator to lead small to medium estimates and perform detailed analysis of contract documents to determine project requirements.

You will develop quantity takeoffs, populate tender forms, solicit quotes from subtrade partners, and establish pursuit schedules while mentoring a small team. The role requires a bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field or trade experience, 2+ years in construction cost estimating and on-site exposure;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
• 2+ years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating and 6 months on-site experience preferred.
• Led pursuits up to $25 million in various delivery methods.
• Knowledge of bid preparation, quantity takeoff, subtrade procurement and bid closing procedures.
• Understanding of market conditions, competitors and compensation models.
• Experience with different delivery methods: hard bid, GMP, unit price, design-build, target prices, cost reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Leads small to medium estimates or components of large estimates and reviews bid documents.
• Conducts detailed analysis of contract documents to determine project requirements.
• Performs full quantity take-offs of labor, equipment and materials.
• Populates tender forms and generates RFIs, supporting pursuit schedules.
• Identifies risks related to site, schedule and market conditions; uses contract terms to identify opportunities.
• Documents and archives estimate information for transfer to the project team.
• Performs bid-day assignments and supports other estimators to close scopes.
• Develops relationships with stakeholders including subtrade partners and suppliers.
• Solicits competitive pricing from subtrades and suppliers for pursuit support.
• Establishes a critical path schedule for the estimate/pursuit.
• Leads a small team including mentoring and coaching indirect reports.
