Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years as estimator, cost estimator, or quantity surveyor in tunnel/infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specs and docs to identify scope, quantities, and tunnel construction requirements.
• Conduct take-offs, price materials, estimate labor and analyze subcontractor quotes.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and procurement to align on requirements and schedules.
• Update cost tracking to monitor expenditures, deviations, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Participate in value engineering, risk assessments, and initiatives to optimize costs while maintaining quality and safety.
• Stay current on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and industry standards.

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a motivated Estimator/Cost Estimator to support one of the most iconic and consequential infrastructure initiatives in the United States — the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and compliance of construction activities related to heavy civil engineering, including large shafts, excavation, and tunneling. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in similar projects and a keen eye for detail.

Role Accountabilities

• Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to identify scope, quantities, and specifications for tunnel construction activities.
• Conduct quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor cost estimation, and subcontractor quote analysis to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to understand project requirements, technical aspects, and scheduling constraints that may impact cost estimates.
• Update and maintain a cost tracking system to monitor project expenditures, track budget deviations, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Participate in value engineering exercises, risk assessments, and cost‑saving initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety standards.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure cost estimates are current, accurate, and competitive.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years experience as an estimator, cost estimator, or quantity surveyor in tunnel construction or infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software, construction cost databases, and MS Excel for detailed analysis and reporting.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
