Job summary

Skyline Door and Hardware, LLC is seeking an Estimator/Bid Coordinator to identify, estimate, and track commercial construction opportunities from bid request to award. This role collaborates with general contractors and Skyline management to select projects and ensure timely, accurate estimates.

Responsibilities include preparing competitive estimates for doors, frames, hardware, and Division 10 products; reviewing drawings; managing bid calendars; coordinating with vendors; and handing off

• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, customers, and vendors.
• Maintain estimating records using ProTech, Fresco, and other company systems; communicate pricing and concerns to management.
• Provide a complete handoff to Project Management upon award.

Job description

The Estimator / Bid Coordinator will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, estimating, and tracking commercial construction opportunities from initial bid request through award. This position will work closely with general contractors and Skyline management to determine which projects we pursue and ensure approved opportunities are estimated accurately and submitted on time. This is an estimating position—not a project management position. Awarded projects will be transitioned to Skyline’s Project Management Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare accurate, timely, and competitive estimates for commercial doors, frames, hardware, and Division 10 products.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, schedules, and other construction documents to determine project scope and costs.
• Identify qualified opportunities, maintain the bid calendar, and coordinate priorities with management.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing and identify exclusions, assumptions, scope gaps, and project risks.
• Communicate with general contractors to solicit bid invitations, develop negotiated work, and follow up on submitted bids.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, customers, and vendors.
• Maintain organized estimating records and accurate project information using ProTech, Fresco, and other company systems.
• Communicate pricing, scope, and estimating concerns to management.
• Upon award, provide a complete and organized handoff to the Project Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably Division 8 doors, frames, hardware, Division 10, or a related trade.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Competitive mindset with a focus on winning profitable work.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, bids, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with contractors, customers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and make sound decisions.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.

PREFERRED

• Experience with ProTech and/or Fresco.
• Existing relationships with general contractors and commercial construction customers.
• Experience with negotiated work and developing projects from opportunity through award.
• Proven track record of winning profitable commercial construction work.
• Familiarity with Division 8 and Division 10 products and commercial construction practices
