Job summary

Rex Moore Group, Inc. is seeking an Estimator I in Reno, NV to support the estimating team with accurate electrical project cost estimates, including material takeoffs and coordination with vendors, subcontractors and clients.

The role emphasizes knowledge of electrical systems, bid review, scope definition, and timely, competitive proposals, with opportunities for growth in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of electrical systems for commercial/industrial environments.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specs.
• Experience with estimation tools like Accubid or similar.
• Must meet deadlines with accurate takeoffs and proposals.
• Detail oriented and able to work independently and in a team.
• Strong communication with clients and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Becoming familiar with Rex Moore’s pre-award processes and services.
• Review bid documents to define scope and identify risks.
• Define client expectations to fully define scope.
• Provide detailed cost estimates covering defined scope.
• Perform material takeoffs of electrical systems.
• Plan and coordinate estimating with vendors, subcontractors, subconsultants and clients.
• Obtain quotes on lighting, power distribution, generators, etc.
• Review quotes from vendors and ensure compliance; request revisions as needed.
• Enter material takeoffs into Accubid; collaborate with low voltage and fire alarm estimators.
• Enter project data into recap sheet for supervisor review.
• Schedule and attend estimate reviews with the preconstruction director and regional project executive.
• Follow up with clients after bids to gather final information.
• Turnover scope and budget to PM team after award.
• Compile bid documents, quotes, schedules, budgets and related items.
• Prepare project brief and back up of scope coverage.

Job Overview:

The Estimator I plays a key role in supporting our estimating team in accurately assessing the costs associated with electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of electrical systems, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to producing accurate and competitive estimates.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks:

• Become familiar with Rex Moore’s pre-award processes as well as the services provided to the client
• Review all bid documents in order in order to define scope and identify potential risks
• Establish the clients expectations in order to fully define scope expectations
• Provide detailed cost estimates that covers defined scope
• Perform accurate material takeoffs of electrical system
• Plan and coordinate all aspects of the estimating process, including working with vendors, subcontractors, subconsultants and clients
• Obtain quotes on items such as lighting, power distribution, generators, etc.
• Review and understand inclusions and exclusions of quotes obtained from outside vendors and select compliant bids, and send required revisions back to non-compliant quoting vendors.
• Enter material takeoffs into Accubid
• Work in conjunction with our internal Low Voltage and Fire Alarm estimators
• Enter all project information into recap sheet for review and approval by supervisor
• Schedule and attend estimate review with preconstruction director and project executive of the region supporting the bid
• Follow up with clients after bids have been submitted to obtain key information on how Rex Moore finished
• Complete the necessary steps upon award of a project to turnover scope, proposal and budget to the project management team
• Compile relevant bid documents, quotes, schedules, budget and related items.
• Complete project brief
• Provide support to relay scope definition and associated back up of how scope was covered to the PM team
• Follow up with client as required to determine open items such as alternates, status of pending contract and release
• Establish and maintain contact with client to ensure a smooth contract awarding process

Compensation:

Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employee’s knowledge, experience and skill level.

Work environment:

Estimator I typically work in an office environment, although they may occasionally visit worksites to observe a project or to meet with clients. When on worksites, Estimator I is to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), always including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots and high viz vest/ shirt

Working around energized equipment

This role requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Basic knowledge and understanding of electrical systems and applications in the commercial and industrial environment
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specs (electrical and other trades as they pertain to electrical scope)
• Knowledge of Bluebeam, Accubid, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Dynamics
• Willing to work in a potentially fast-paced environment
• Ability to meet deadlines with accurate takeoffs and proposals

• Ability to effectively communicate your takeoff approach to other team members and external people
• Ability to start, build and maintain relationships with clients and 3rd parties such as architects and engineers.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
• Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
• Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.
• Push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds.
• Frequently required to walk and stand. This position may involve infrequent site visits which will require the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof-read documents to identify errors.
• Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
• May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
