Job summary

SMS is seeking an experienced Estimator to support expansion into the Florida landscaping market. This role involves preparing accurate estimates, reviewing project scope with management, and ensuring costs align with contracts.

You will reach out to potential clients, collaborate with the project management team, and develop detailed labor and material takeoffs to drive competitive bids and successful project execution.

Qualifications

• High School degree or higher-level education.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with contractors, colleagues, supervisors, and project stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are essential in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in English is required; fluency in Spanish is a bonus but not required.
• Ability to work well in a team and present confidently in high-pressure situations.
• Strong composure and professionalism in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with management to evaluate potential projects,identifybidding strategies, and choose the best techniques to ensure competitive pricing.
• Review and finalizeestimate packages in partnership with the company President, responsible for Business Development and ensuring everything isaccurateand complete before submission.
• Negotiate contracts and change orders to meet company standards and ensure the best possible outcomes along with the Project Manager and/or Superintendent.
• Provide support to field management teams by fully explaining the needed “Scope of Work” presented to the client toassurefull compliance in time and form.
• Create detailed labor breakdowns and comprehensive material takeoffs.
• Assistin preparing submittals, including material and method recommendations and cost estimates, to ensure projects are strategically planned.
• Develop “hand-off profiles” to ensure the field team is set up for success on future projects.
• Work independently in an office environment, using specialized software to efficiently complete tasks.
