Job summary

Steelscape LLC in Spokane, WA is seeking an Estimator to provide estimating support to sales, customer service and customers. The hybrid role involves taking-off quotes from drawings and documents using approved software, and maintaining a detailed quote log for the sales team.

The role requires a engineering-related degree or equivalent experience, strong knowledge of AutoCAD and estimating software, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive quote conversion.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• In lieu of degree, 2-year Associate degree and 3+ years of experience in Estimating, Project Management, or related discipline.
• Experience with AutoCAD and other estimating software programs.
• Preferred: 5+ years of experience in Estimating, Project Management, or a related discipline.
• Construction management or related work experience or equivalent combination of education and training in building constructions with an understanding of installation techniques and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely estimates and quotations for all qualified opportunities, providing detailed pricing, specifications, and supporting documentation for ASC Building Products, AEP Span, and Steel Deck products.
• Review and interpret construction documents, contract drawings, and project specifications to determine appropriate product applications and identify potential issues.
• Generate and submit RFIs to architects, engineers, and designers as needed.
• Maintain detailed quote records, including wins, losses, customer interactions, and document activity, using software tools to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and follow-up.
• Collaborate closely with Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Customer Service, customers, designers, installers, contractors, and end users to support project success and maximize quote conversion opportunities.
• Develop a thorough understanding of customer needs and project requirements to provide product recommendations, technical guidance, and value-added solutions.

Education

Position

Estimator – This is a hybrid role, in office 3 days per week. Position open in: Spokane, WA, Tacoma, WA, or West Sacramento, CA.

Purpose

The Estimator provides Estimating support to Outside Sales, Customer Service and our customers. This will include providing take-off type quotes from drawings, plans or electronic files using software programs approved by the Sales Manager. The Estimator will work to maintain a Quote Log for the Sales Team.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction documents, contract drawings, and project specifications to determine appropriate product applications and identify potential issues.

• Maintain detailed quote records, including wins, losses, customer interactions, and document activity, utilizing software tools to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and follow-up.
• Collaborate closely with Inside Sales Representatives, Outside Sales Representatives (OSRs), Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), customers, designers, installers, contractors, and end users to support project success and maximize quote conversion opportunities.
• Develop a thorough understanding of customer needs and project requirements to provide product recommendations, technical guidance, and value-added solutions.
• Maintain expert knowledge of ASC Building Products, AEP Span, Steel Deck, and related product offerings, including product capabilities, literature, installation requirements, and operational procedures.
• Serve as a technical resource by advising internal and external stakeholders on product selection, specification compliance, and application suitability.
• Execute estimating strategies and sales support initiatives in alignment with departmental objectives and management direction.
• Partner with sales and customer service teams to deliver exceptional customer service, ensure customer satisfaction, and support order fulfillment activities.
• Assist with order management, customer inquiries, and workload balancing during peak business periods or employee absences as needed.

• Support the onboarding and training of new Customer Service Representatives and other team members when applicable.
• Provide cross-functional estimating support across ASC Building Products, AEP Span, and Steel Deck divisions as business needs require.

• Proactively follow up on quoted opportunities with sales teams and customers to drive project closure and maximize business growth.

Salary

Salary Range: The expected pay scale for this role is $72,225.00 - $85,805.00 annually, depending on experience, skill set, and qualifications.
