Aerospace Estimator
Salary: $90,000 - $105,000 annually. Schedule: 1st Shift
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Estimator to support quoting activities for precision-machined aerospace components. This role is responsible for analyzing customer requirements, reviewing engineering documentation, developing accurate cost estimates, and creating manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs). The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of aerospace machining processes, manufacturing costs, and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Review customer RFQs, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Prepare accurate labor, material, machining, and overall cost estimates for precision-machined aerospace components.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Analyze machining requirements, manufacturing processes, and production costs to generate competitive quotations.
- Obtain pricing and lead times from outside vendors and suppliers.
- Assemble complete quote packages for internal review and customer submission.
- Work closely with engineering, production, purchasing, and sales to ensure accurate quoting.
- Manage multiple quotations while meeting customer deadlines.
- Maintain organized estimating records and documentation.
- Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Prior aerospace estimating experience is required.
- Experience quoting precision-machined or hard metal aerospace components.
- Strong ability to read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications, GD&T, and manufacturing requirements.
- Thorough understanding of CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, grinding, and other precision manufacturing operations.
- Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Experience reviewing RFQs, gathering vendor pricing, and preparing complete quote packages.
- Strong knowledge of machining capabilities, manufacturing processes, and cost drivers.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet customer deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard estimating software/tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Process Engineering experience.
- Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems used in manufacturing.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation with or without corrective lenses.
- Occasional travel between local manufacturing facilities may be required.
Additional Requirements
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening, including THC testing.
