Job summary

Herman Weissker, Inc. in Riverside, CA, seeks an Estimator to support the Lead Estimator and Director of Estimating. You will assist with preparing bids, performing quantity take-offs, and coordinating drawings and RFP packages to ensure timely estimates.

A high school diploma is required; an Associate degree in Drafting or Engineering is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bid Tracer is expected. Electrician background and a CA driver’s license are valued.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in updating weekly Volume Tracking and Bid Tracer reports.
• Complete prequalification questionnaires with the PC.
• Plot, scan, and print plans using wide format printer/scanner.
• Fill out Prequalifications and submit to Owners/Contractors as requested.
• Perform quantity take-offs of electrical drawings for estimating.
• Identify upcoming projects for bidding opportunities.
• Deliver estimated bids on time.
• Create projects in Bid Tracer and update the outlook calendar.

Title: Estimator

Reports to: Director of Estimating

About the Role:

Provide direct support to the Lead Estimator and Director of Estimating.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the updating and issuing of weekly Volume Tracking and Business Development reports in Bid Tracer
• Complete elaborate and time-sensitive prequalification questionnaires in conjunction with the PC
• Utilize wide format printer & scanner to plot, scan and print plans
• Fill out Prequalification’s with assistance of the PC, submit to Owners and Contractors as requested by department manager
• Performs quantity take-offs of transportation electrical drawings for estimating purposes
• Identify upcoming projects for bidding opportunities
• Deliver estimated bids on time
• Request and pick-up drawings and RFP packages
• Perform additional assignments as directed by direct Supervisor
• Receive the service calls and respond in a timely manner
• Creating project in Bid Tracer, updating outlook calendar with upcoming projects.
• High School diploma or GED a must, Associates Degree in Drafting, Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office, Outlook and Excel.
• General knowledge of the various disciplines and procedures utilized by the Construction industry is preferred.
• Electrician background a must.
• Possess a valid class C California driver's license and clean record
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Excel and knowledge of spreadsheet applications.
• Ability to accurately enter data and perform mathematical calculations.
• Able to adjust priorities on short notice, manage interruptions and work well under pressure.
• Ability to timely meet deadlines and coordinate workloads with Supervisor.
• Effective communication, grammar, letter writing, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Construction industry experience a plus
• Interacts professionally with all company employees and outside persons, such as customers, vendors and professional service providers.
• Ability to stay focused and work without close supervision.
• Works well in a team environment as well as independently and self-motivated.
• Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are necessary.
• Mental alertness and good memory is necessary to ensure accurate and thorough completion of work activities.
• Ability to interpret and disseminate complex information appropriate and effectively.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods and efficiently operate computer, calculator, copier, fax and other business office equipment.
