Job summary

Performance Contracting Group in Portland, OR seeks an experienced Estimator to bid and pursue work in the Oregon market. The role focuses on quantitative takeoffs, establishing labor productivity, and maintaining vendor relationships while coordinating with the operations and project teams.

The candidate should have 2+ years of estimating experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff/Quickbid, along with MS Office tools.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of estimating construction projects.
  • Experience with estimating, project management, and managing specialty scopes of construction.
  • Strong ability to read, understand and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work.
  • Strong record of establishing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and cost analysis.
  • Ability to accurately read schedules for sequencing and durations of applicable scopes of work.
  • Proficient with takeoff/estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quickbid.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, BlueBeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects.
  • Establish labor productivities for estimates.
  • Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive pricing.
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing for work outside of our self-perform group.
  • Understand market conditions including backlog and risk for establishing margins.
  • Participate in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project team.
  • Participate in customer alignment objectives by maintaining positive relations.
  • Contract administration for secured projects.
  • Utilize wage and benefit schedules.
  • Handoff secured projects to Operations Team.
  • Assist in change orders and billings as needed.
  • Support estimating team for product line collaboration.

Job Description

PCI is seeking an experienced estimator for their PCI Portland 553 operations based in Portland, OR. This individual will bid and pursue work in the greater Oregon market and is responsible for the following duties:

  • Performing quantitative takeoffs on construction projects.
  • Establish labor productivities for estimate.
  • Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing.
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self‑perform group.
  • Understand the market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level or risk for work and other factors for establishing margin percentages.
  • Be involved in the internal bid reviews with supervisors and project team.
  • Participate in the customer alignment objectives of the branch by creating and maintaining positive customer relations.
  • Contract administration for secured projects.
  • Utilize wage and benefit schedules.
  • Hand‑off of secured projects to the Operations Team.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s).
  • Support other members of the Estimating team for product line collaboration.

This position is safety‑sensitive.

Salary range is between $85,000 and $105,000.

Basic Requirements
  • At least 2 years of estimating construction projects.
  • Experience with estimating, project management, and managing specialty scopes of construction.
  • Strong ability to read, understand and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work.
  • Strong record of establishing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and cost analysis.
  • Ability to accurately read schedules for sequencing and durations of applicable scopes of work.
  • Proficiency with computer takeoff & estimating software such as On‑Screen Takeoff and Quickbid.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, BlueBeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Science or Construction Management.
  • Experience with working with union representatives is preferred. OSHA Certification.
  • Local to Portland metro area is preferred.
