Job summary

BFL Construction Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Phoenix area team. You will estimate projects and build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors across Phoenix and Tucson.

The role focuses on developing competitive bid strategies, coordinating estimates, and ensuring accurate, polished cost projections for a variety of project types while aligning with our CORE Values.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience on projects ranging from $100k to $200M.
• Experience with hard bid and public projects.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills with MS Office, MS Project, Procore, Building Connected and estimating software.
• Ability to interpret drawings and prepare complete cost estimates.

Position Summary

As an Estimator reporting into the Estimating Director, you understand that building projects and building relationships go hand in hand. You will be responsible for estimating projects and building strong relationships in both Phoenix and Tucson.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of current marketplace and trends to gain and maintain our competitive advantage and develop effective bid strategies.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, public and project teams.
• Champion risk reduction and profitability by creating polished estimates.
• In Collaboration with the department manager, develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiencies within the Estimating department.
• Consult and collaborate with broad project teams with regards to general conditions, construction methodology and schedules during the Tender/Pre-Construction process.
• Prepare and coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, C&M, lump sum, or general tender for a variety of projects.
• Interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings to define scope/contents of estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs from tender drawings; issue tender packages and create scopes of work and lead hard tender closings.
• Spearhead hand-off process to operations team for newly awarded projects. Ensure open communication during project kick-off.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience performing estimating work on construction projects ranging from $100,000 to $200 million.
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in building technology, construction management or quantity surveying CEC, PQS or similar designations considered an asset.
• Experience estimating commercial, multi-family residential and institutional buildings.
• Experience working for/with General Contractors and managing multiple estimates at a time.
• Experience with Hard Bid and Public Projects
• Familiarity with drawing reviews, contract administration, document management, scheduling software, change order procedures.
• Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, sub-trade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, Building Connected, and various estimating software’s.
• Experience in utilizing AI capabilities to increase production and accuracy of estimates.
