Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support one of our largest utility clients in the NYC area. This is a 1-year contract-to-hire opportunity for transmission and distribution projects across Manhattan and Staten Island.

The role involves developing cost estimates for complex substation construction and transmission projects, using early-stage drawings, civil drawings, plans, and sketches to project costs. Collaboration with engineering and project teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience estimating complex electrical projects.
• Experience estimating substation or transmission facilities.
• Ability to use early-stage drawings and scopes to build estimates.
• Ability to read civil drawings and provide constructability feedback.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Electrical Estimator | Utility / Substation Projects

NYC Area | Manhattan & Staten Island | 1-Year Contract-to-Hire

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support one of our largest utility clients in the NYC area. This is a 1-year contract-to-hire opportunity supporting transmission and distribution projects across Manhattan and Staten Island.

This individual will be responsible for developing cost estimates for complex, multidisciplinary substation construction and transmission projects. You’ll take early-stage project scopes, preliminary drawings, civil drawings, plans, and sketches and use them to determine anticipated project costs.

What You’ll Do

• Develop conceptual, authorization, and appropriation cost estimates for substation and transmission projects
• Estimate electrical, mechanical, and/or civil components of complex utility projects
• Review preliminary drawings, civil drawings, sketches, and scopes of work to build project estimates
• Review drawings and provide feedback from a constructability and cost perspective
• Support budgeting and cost planning for capital projects
• Manage multiple estimates and projects with changing priorities and deadlines
• Work closely with engineering, construction, project management, and other stakeholders
• Utilize Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, estimating applications, and project databases

Required Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience estimating complex electrical projects
• Experience estimating substation and/or transmission facility projects
• Ability to develop estimates using early-stage drawings, sketches, plans, and project scopes
• Experience reading and reviewing civil drawings
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
