Job summary

Core Talent Services partners with an established commercial construction company in Mobile, AL to hire a Commercial Construction Estimator. You will focus on preconstruction budgeting, takeoffs, and bidding strategies to win projects.

You will read drawings, prepare estimates, manage multiple bids, and build strong relationships with subcontractors and clients, while collaborating with project management and field operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial construction estimating.
• Experience with ground-up commercial construction is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software, along with MS Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across project teams.
• Degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs and bid documents to establish project scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids and identify scope gaps.
• Develop conceptual budgets, preconstruction estimates, and final bid proposals.
• Collaborate with project managers and field leadership on scope reviews and scheduling.
• Identify project risks, value-engineering opportunities and potential savings.
• Maintain historical pricing data and cost databases.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
• Manage multiple estimating projects and ensure bid deadlines are met.

We're partnering with an established commercial construction company in Mobile, AL, to find a Commercial Construction Estimator to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys the technical side of preconstruction, building strong subcontractor relationships, and helping bring projects to life through accurate, strategic budgeting.

The ideal candidate has experience estimating ground-up commercial construction projects and can manage multiple bids while collaborating closely with project management and field operations.

What You'll Do

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to establish project scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed, competitive cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, compare pricing, and identify scope gaps.
• Develop conceptual budgets, preconstruction estimates, and final bid proposals.
• Collaborate with project managers and field leadership on scope reviews, scheduling, and construction approaches.
• Identify project risks, value-engineering opportunities, and potential cost savings.
• Maintain historical pricing data and cost databases to support accurate estimating.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.

What We're Looking For

• Experience in commercial construction estimating; candidates who have transitioned from estimating into project management are encouraged to apply.
• Experience with ground-up commercial construction is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software, along with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across project teams.
• A degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but relevant industry experience may substitute.
• 10% annual employer retirement contribution based on base salary, regardless of employee contributions.
• 401(k) match up to 4%.
• Annual performance bonus with a target of approximately 10%.
