Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Estimator to support a federal construction subcontractor on complex infrastructure and security projects. You will help with preconstruction estimates, bid packages, and design-build pursuits from concept through execution.

You will read drawings, perform takeoffs, price bids, and evaluate subcontractor quotes, with exposure to USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, and DHS projects. Hybrid/remote work with periodic travel to Arizona is available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Construction Estimator for a construction firm.
• Experience estimating for self-perform commercial or federal construction projects.
• Proficiency in Excel and estimating documentation workflows.
• Comfortable with hybrid or remote work with periodic travel to Arizona.
• Hands-on experience with estimating tools like InEight or HeavyBid.
• Design-Build estimating experience.
• Exposure to federal or public-sector construction projects (USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, DHS, etc.).
• Experience supporting border, security, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience supporting RFPs, conceptual/ROM estimates, and value engineering efforts.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specs to develop estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs, pricing, and estimate development.
• Solicit, level, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids.
• Develop detailed conceptual through GMP estimates from plans and bid docs.
• Assemble complete estimate packages with materials and labor takeoffs.
• Analyze subcontractor pricing and supplier quotes for accuracy.
• Identify scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions, and risks in preconstruction.
• Support design-build pursuits with pricing and scope clarifications.
• Assist with change order pricing and budget support as projects move forward.
• Maintain organized estimating files and bid tabs for handoff.

This individual will play a key role in preconstruction, producing accurate and well-documented estimates, collaborating with project teams, and supporting design-build pursuits from early concept through execution.

• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Proven experience with quantity takeoffs, pricing, and estimate development
• Experience soliciting, leveling, and evaluating subcontractor and vendor bids
• Develop detailed conceptual through GMP estimates based on plans, specs, and bid documents
• Perform material and labor takeoffs and assemble complete estimate packages

• Identify scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions, and project risks during preconstruction
