Job summary

Insight Global in Reno, NV is seeking an Estimator to join a large heavy civil construction organization. You will develop accurate estimates, review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, and coordinate with bid teams through submission and preconstruction.

The role partners with project teams during preconstruction and after award to support change-order pricing, planning, and a smooth transition from estimating to construction.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating heavy civil construction projects.
• Experience reviewing construction plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
• Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed estimates and competitive bids for heavy civil construction projects.
• Review project plans, specifications, soils reports, and other bid documents to determine project scope and estimating requirements.
• Perform and coordinate quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Develop activity-level pricing utilizing historical costs, production data, subcontractor pricing, and project-specific requirements.
• Identify appropriate self-perform and subcontracted scopes of work.
• Solicit and evaluate proposals from subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and project site visits to identify site conditions, constraints, risks, and opportunities.
• Evaluate project scope, schedule, cost, and risk throughout the bidding process.
• Prepare estimates, project schedules, bid documents, and supporting documentation for review and submission.
• Coordinate with project and management teams during bid reviews and address outstanding items prior to submission.
• Support preconstruction efforts through conceptual and budgetary estimating.
• Assist project teams after award with change-order pricing, additional scopes of work, and other estimating needs.
• Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• - Support the identification and pursuit of future project opportunities.

This individual will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for public and private-sector heavy civil construction projects.The Estimator will review project plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, develop pricing, solicit subcontractor and supplier quotes, evaluate project risks, and prepare complete bid packages.
