Job summary

Metric Geo, a leading partner on major heavy civil infrastructure programs, seeks an experienced Estimator to join our estimating team. You will develop cost estimates for bridge, highway, rail, airport, dam, tunnel, and transit projects, using contract drawings, specs, and cost databases.

You will read proposals, perform quantity take-offs, and compile unit-price and lump-sum bids. Proficiency with Excel and HCSS is preferred to prepare accurate, defendable proposals for large-scale public

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field with 10+ years estimating experience.
• 5+ years estimating for heavy civil projects.
• Experience on projects over $100M in value.
• Strong communication with owners, suppliers and subs during pre-bid and post-bid negotiations.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods like Design-Build or CMAR is preferred.

Job Description

As an Estimator, reporting to the Vice President of Estimating, you will have the opportunity to:

• Develop estimates for bridge, highway, railway, airport, dam, tunnel, and/or transit projects.
• Read, analyze, interpret, and obtain a thorough understanding of contract proposals, drawings, and specifications.
• Self-perform and/or direct others in quantity take-off for both unit price and lump sum project bidding schedules, summarizing in Excel spreadsheet format.
• Analyze various scopes of work and produce comprehensive unit price estimates by creating production crews and including specific equipment and materials in a project cost software program, such as HCSS.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field from an accredited institution, and 10+ years of relevant estimating and project management experience.
• 5+ years of experience estimating for heavy civil projects.
• Previous estimating experience on projects over $100M in value.
• Good communication skills to effectively solicit and work with individual project owners' representatives, material suppliers, and subcontractors in pre-bid estimate preparation and post-bid negotiations.
• Capable of working effectively within a cohesive heavy civil estimating team to facilitate comprehensive cost proposals, and to conclude efforts during joint venture team reviews on major projects when applicable.
• Previous experience with alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build and CMAR is preferred.
