Job summary

Arrow Building Center, Lampert Lumber and Lyman Lumber Companies, divisions of US LBM, are seeking an estimator to determine material quantities for home construction, assist sales teams, and support blueprint interpretation. You will work across projects, training staff in estimating techniques and ensuring accuracy in materials lists while adhering to company policies and safety standards.

The role requires an Associate's Degree in engineering or related field and 1–3 years of construction

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or related field required.
• 1–3 years of construction and building materials experience required.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret building plans.

Responsibilities

• Estimate materials required for home construction per policy and codes.
• Assist salesmen with customer orders and material lists.
• Assist in trim take-offs as requested.
• Provide contractor assistance as needed.
• Train sales representatives in estimating techniques.
• Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion.
• Operate the sales/hardware counter as assigned.

What You Will Do

• Estimate the amount of materials needed for home construction according to company policy and local building code.
• Assist salesmen as needed with customer orders and materials lists.
• Assist in trim take-offs as requested.
• Provide assistance to contractors as needed.
• Train sales representatives in estimating techniques.
• Assist sales staff with blueprint reading and construction procedures.
• Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion of each project.
• Work on sales/ hardware counter as assigned.
• Control expenditures to conform to company budgetary requirements.

Education Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in engineering or related area required.

Experience Qualifications

• 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience required.

Skills And Abilities

• Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
• Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs and to instruct others in effective use of application software.
• Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of measurements and basic math principles.
